Muenselling celebrates her 48th foundation day

On Tuesday, 23rd of February, 2021, Muenselling Institute celebrated her 48th foundation day.

Teachers, staff members and students gathered in the dining-hall by 9:30 and began the preparation.

By 10:00 A.M. the programme began with the singing of national Anthem. This was followed by lighting of Jamchoe.

In his welcome note to the gathering, the principal welcomed all the participants. He talked on the importance of knowing to pay gratitude to those who founded and funded for the institute.

Mr. Kuenga Chhoegyel played the video message from the founding principal of the institute, Mr. Einar Kippenes.

In his five minutes video message, he talked of the hardship for starting the institute with notion of reading and writing for the blind felt to be too stupid.

Mr. Kippenes wished all the teachers, staff students and wonderful day.

Ms. Pema Eden, read out the message from Mr. Shriman Gurung, who worked in the institute from 1990 till 2014.
Ms. Pema Eden, read out the following message:
Respected Principal, dear colleagues and my dear students kuzu zangpola and good morning la.

On this special day when the entire Institute family has a chance to reflect not only the beginnings of the Institute and its founders, but also on the significant development since the Institute’s inception. It is a day to celebrate the history and revisit and reconnect with the continuing journey of the Institute. We are blessed to celebrate the bond that we share with past and present members of the Muenselling Family.

On this special day I would like to wish MIK a happy 48th Foundation Day. My sincere wishes and prayers to all the faculty members of MIK for their selfless service and dedication. Dear students study hard and wish you all the best of luck in your endeavors. Thank you and Tashi delek. Miss you all.

In her two minutes audio message, she wished the teachers, staff members and all the students a great congratulation and wished all the best for the year ahead.

This was followed by welcoming the new students offering Khadar.

The captains for the year 2021 were also offered Khaddar.

Mr. Kuenga Chhoegyel played the video song dedicated to the founding principals and teachers.

In his five minutes talk through phone, Mr. Gyembo Tsheten, who served the institute from 1985 to 1995 (ten years) talked of the wonderful time he had with the students.

“Learning Braille was a great challenge, yet an opportunity,” he said.

He said that he had fun walking with the children for field trips, excursion from Khengthong Mani to Wamrong, trip from Khengthong Mani to Drametse and so on.

Mr. Kuenga Chhoegyel presented five minutes talk comparing the present status and the history of the past. He talked of the activities that existed that no more is continued, the hardship the teachers had to shoulder and so on.

Awarding a staff of the institute, as usual, this year, in 2021, Lop. Tashi Dorji was awarded the for his long life service for the institute. Karmi Kom with Khadar was offered. On behalf of the institute, Mr. Tshering Dorji, who recently retired from the service offered to Lop. Tashi Dorji.

This was followed by tea break and continued with few cultural items.

Vice Principal, Mr. Tashi K, in his 2 minutes talked to the gathering offered his vote of thanks, thanking to all those who made sure that the programme was a great success. He thanked the kitchen team for preparing the lunch, for the students and teachers who arranged the hall and to those who prepared the programme.

This was followed by hoisting of prayer flags in front of the academic building

The programme was concluded with a delicious lunch and ended by 2 in the afternoon.
